The Student Union of Mathematicians “SUMA”, in collaboration with the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade, and the company Ominimo Insurance, is organizing the first Data Science Hackathon at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade.

Ominimo Insurance, currently one of the fastest-growing Serbian startups with high expectations to become the first Serbian unicorn, is an insurtech company and a pioneer in applying machine learning for risk prediction in auto insurance in Europe. The company brings together a team of top machine learning experts and enthusiasts who use advanced analytical methods for insurance pricing and client risk assessment. Together, we aim to introduce you to the world of insurtech and present a new era of insurance — a fusion of mathematics, programming, and data science, where theory meets practical application.

The MATF Data Science Hackathon 2026 will last 24 hours and will be held at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade, at Svetog Nikole 39, from 28.03.2026 to 29.03.2026. The competition is open to all students interested in data science, data analysis, and machine learning — whether you are just starting in the field or already have experience.

Participants will have the opportunity to work on a real-world problem from the insurance industry, develop analytical thinking, improve technical skills, and gain practical experience by solving complex challenges.

Applications can be submitted individually (individual applicants will be grouped into separate teams) or as a team, with teams consisting of 3 or 4 members. Each team member registers individually, and members do not have to be from the same faculty. Applications are open until 23.02.2026 at midnight. After the application deadline, participants will receive information about the qualifications, which will take place from 28.02.2026 to 04.03.2026. The twenty highest-ranked teams in the qualifications will earn the right to participate in the final Hackathon.
